YETI - Gen AI

Overview

Designed a new feature added to YETI Customizer, where users can generate AI designs for drinkware customization. This feature allows users to create personal designs, by entering personalized prompts to get designs generated by AI.

As a UX/UI Designer at YETI, I have been working on variety of site wide projects that consumers experience for the brand. I was in charge of the ideation, design/development specification. Worked closely with developers throughout the build and QA sessions. Worked closely with the Senior Manager UIUX Designer for the advise.

The Design

This new feature allows users to generate designs by AI by entering personalized prompts. Users can refresh the same prompt or enter new prompt and it will show up to 4 designs. While designs are generating, we show design tips while users are waiting for the designs. Due to build limitation, we had to stick with current Customizer UI, but I was able to design new UI for GenAI while keeping overall Customizer UI.

Once users are in Customizer, they can select “create a Design” tab to start Gen AI. I also designed the GenAI icon with gradient outline.

It takes a while to generate the design, during this time we are showing some design tips on how to use Gen AI with loading animation.

Users will get up to 4 AI generated designs. Users can use the same prompt and refresh, or enter new prompts here. Users can also save designs.

Takeaways

This project was one of big projects I led, and a great collaboration with Customizer team. From the ideation phase to design phase, then to development phase, it was a long journey filled with new learnings and awesome collaboration. While working on this project, we’ve been through countless rounds of QA sessions, and from it, I was able to understand more of what Development Team’s work process. It was also an awesome opportunity for me to improve more of my UX skills as I was working on the user flow and design.
